How would you describe your culinary style?
Traditional, classic, comforting but with a twist! I love and respect classic and heart-warming recipes but love to modernize it with a creative curve. For example, taking a well known roast chicken, a staple I grew up with for weekly dinners, and changing it up by experimenting with different herbs, citrus and spices.

What is the main source of inspiration for your recipes?
In my short 28 years of cooking, I have had a vast array of cultural experiences. Growing up in a Jewish family with also Middle Eastern influences in NYC, living in Hawaii for 10 years and throughout my travels to Europe, those have been my sources of inspiration. You will find me attempting to duplicate a carbonara I had in Rome, and a week later making Passion-Fruit bars with fresh Passion fruit my mother sent from Hawaii, while some Jewish Penicillin (AKA, chicken soup) is simmering away on my stove! Culture is my influence.

If you could have one food while stranded on a desert island, what would it be?
I discovered buratta cheese when dining out at Mario Batali’s restaurant in LA. I never had anything like it and was instantly infatuated. This cheese is something that came from the heavens. Creamy and soft and melts on your tongue. The texture is light and not overpowering, a delicate indulgence. It was served with baby roasted tomatoes, sweet and condensed with basil olive oil. I could honestly say I could and would live on this caprese salad forever. It is amazing!

For someone new to your blog, which recipe do you recommend they try first?
Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs is always a crowd pleaser. Comforting and easy to make, it will taste like you slaved over the stove for hours! The meatballs always come out succulent and tender and the sauce simmers long enough to be able to soak up all the flavors of the meat and wine. It is truly magical.

What is your ultimate guilty food pleasure?
I have a secret sweet tooth! Shhhh…don’t tell anyone! Living on the West Coast, I miss the Italian bakeries so I just started baking up what I missed. Rugelach with fruit and nut fillings and 7-Layer Rainbow Cookies are honestly the best sweets on the planet.

Define Yummly.
A cure-all for all things delicious.
